If you have a passion for leadership and health services, then career advancement into a management or executive role in health policy or health care could be the choice for you.

Our Master of Health Management will give you skills in core areas of management and the broad scope of health simultaneously as you study the inner workings of the healthcare sector. You will learn about different types of management and the activities involved. This gives you the opportunity to further develop your analytical, evaluative and political skills for your future work in complex systems and organisations characterised by constant change.

As a Health Management graduate, you will stand out from the crowd when taking the next step in your career. With the learning outcomes of leadership skills, complex problem solving and stakeholder management, you will be fully prepared to provide leadership in a range of health services and programs.

You also have the option of exiting early and graduating with a Graduate Diploma in Health Management.

Entry Requirements

You can gain entry into the Master of Health Management with the following:
  • A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher) in health, business or law; or

  • A completed recognised bachelor’s degree in any other discipline with at least 3 years (full-time or equivalent) experience working in health management at a middle to senior level.

  • Middle to senior-level experience is defined as experience in supervising or leadership (e.g. with responsibility for decision-making, teamwork, quality assurance and/or policy development; or

  • Completion of QUT’s Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management or Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management. Units completed in the Graduate Certificate will be credited to the Master’s degree (total of 1.5-year duration with nested PQ30 or PQ31).

This course is not available to international students.

Course Units

You can study full time, part time or at an accelerated pace and adjust your study load every teaching period, depending on what is happening in your life at the time. Choose up to two units every teaching period, factoring in approximately 12-15 hours of study per week and unit.
